Ingredients
1/2 cup whole milk
1/2 cup water
1/2 teaspoon salt, plus more to taste
1 tablespoon butter, plus more to finish
1/4 cup stone-ground grits
Instructions
  1. Pour milk, water, salt, and tablespoon of butter into the saucepan. Medium to low heat till it boils. It goes really fast.
  2. Stir in grits vigorously, to keep them from clumping up.
  3. Adjust temperature to low for about 10-15 minutes. Stir to make sure they don't get stuck on the bottom of the pan.
  4. Add another tablespoon of butter for extra comfort.
